Ed Warner has been appointed chairman of London's organizing committee for the 2017 track and field world championships. Warner is also chairman of UK Athletics. He will submit a framework for running the event to track and field's governing body. Warner will work with Sports Minister Hugh Robertson and London Mayor Boris Johnson to appoint a vice chairman and the rest of the board.

The first ever Southeastern Kentucky Indoor Track Meet was held at The Arena Saturday with the local teams hosting the event. Williamsburg Track Coach John Harris with the help of Corbin’s Ray Martin and Whitley County’s Chuck Davis were instrumental in putting together a quite successful event.

Emma King won the pole vault Saturday at the Maryland 2A West region championships with 12 feet 3 inches, the highest jump by a girl indoors in Maryland history.
